Chickasaw is a small city immediately north of Mobile, close enough to the office that scheduling is straightforward and small enough that most practices here are weighing mail-back against a truck.

In Chickasaw
What we collect here, and from whom
The dividing line is roughly 50 lbs a month. Below it, a prepaid mail-back system is normally cheaper and less trouble. Above it, a routine pickup wins because someone else carries the containers.
We would rather tell you which side you are on than put a vehicle on your calendar you do not need. Either way the containers, the manifest and the proof of destruction come with the service.
Our office is at 1909 Brookdale Drive West in Mobile, and this is its home county. Chickasaw is in Mobile County, inside the local pickup area. See the rest of South Alabama, or contact us and the Mobile office will reply.
Family practices Vaccination and draw sharps, steady and light.
Dental offices Sharps, red bag waste and amalgam recycling.
Home-health and hospice bases Field containers consolidated at the office before collection.
Pharmacies with a clinic room Immunization sharps, and expired non-controlled stock.
Alabama rules
What Alabama asks of you
Medical waste in Alabama is regulated by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management. Workplace exposure is OSHA's. A short guide to both.
ADEM writes the rule
The Medical Waste Program sits in Division 335-17 of the ADEM Administrative Code, setting minimum standards for storage, transport, treatment and disposal.
The truck needs a permit
Vehicles carrying untreated medical waste in Alabama must be permitted by ADEM. It is a fair question to ask any hauler you are considering.
Records follow the waste
Every pickup should leave you a manifest and proof of legal destruction. BioMed provides both.
Your staff, too
OSHA's Bloodborne Pathogens standard applies to anyone exposed to blood at work. Our compliance portal carries the training course.
It comes down to how much you make. Steady volume suits a truck on a schedule. An office that fills a few containers a month can skip the truck and mail them back.
