What an imaging center generates
Contrast-enhanced studies mean IV access, and IV access means sharps. Cannulas, needles, connector sets and the dressings that come off afterwards make up nearly all of it, along with contaminated gloves.
Nuclear medicine is a different matter. Radioactive waste is regulated by the NRC or the equivalent state agency and is not part of this service. Where a center does both, the two streams stay entirely separate and so do the vendors.
