Medical waste disposal in Biloxi, MS

Biloxi runs at all hours, and the clinics that serve a casino and tourism economy see the consequences: walk-in care at odd times, occupational health for a large hospitality workforce, and volume that does not respect a nine-to-five schedule.

What we collect here, and from whom

Round-the-clock demand needs containers that do not depend on someone noticing. A point-of-use container in each treatment room, replaced on a fixed interval rather than when it looks full, is the difference between a tidy room at 3 AM and an overfilled container.

Collection itself happens in business hours, from a holding point you nominate. What matters is that the interval is set from your real volume and changes when that changes, without a contract in the way.

There is no Mississippi office. BioMed works from one office, in Mobile, AL, and South Mississippi sits inside the local pickup area run from it. Biloxi is in Harrison County, inside the local pickup area. See the rest of South Mississippi, or contact us and the Mobile office will reply.

Mississippi rules

What Mississippi asks of you

Mississippi is the loosest of the three states we work in, and that cuts both ways: less to file, and more resting on who you hire.

  • Two agencies, split at the door

The Mississippi State Department of Health regulates storage and handling inside your building. MDEQ regulates off-site management, transport and disposal.

  • No transporter permit

MDEQ does not currently require special licensing or permits for medical waste transporters. Checking who you hire matters more here, not less.

  • No manifest required. Ask anyway

MDEQ recommends that generators require certified manifest forms and keep a copy on file. BioMed supplies one with every pickup, with proof of legal destruction.

  • Not to a landfill untreated

Solid waste permits generally prohibit municipal disposal facilities from accepting infectious medical waste that has not been rendered non-infectious.

Two ways to dispose

Pickup or mail-back

It comes down to how much you make. Steady volume suits a truck on a schedule. An office that fills a few containers a month can skip the truck and mail them back.

Scheduled pickup

For clinics, practices and facilities with steady volume

  • Containers and bags supplied for each waste stream
  • Routine or flexible pickups, adjusted when your volume changes
  • Collected by trained, experienced personnel
  • Waste manifest and proof of legal destruction every time
  • Local across South Alabama, South Mississippi and the Florida Panhandle, from our Mobile, AL office

Mail-back

For small quantity generators, 0 to 50 lbs a month

  • Systems from 1 quart to 28 gallons
  • Prepaid return box and a pre-filled manifest
  • Email tracking from pickup to destruction
  • Electronic certificate of disposal
  • No contracts, no minimums, no fuel surcharges
